3 DISTINCTIVE SEASONS IN NORTH THAILAND

COOL SEASON (winter)

COOL SEASON (winter)

COOL SEASON (winter)

Crisp skys and cooler climate

Cool season (best experience)  November to end of February

The winter season is obviously the best period to travel in north Thailand.

This is the period with most travelers, as cool climate of north Thailand has been very popular for residents of other parts of the country, as well as International travelers.

All year long, we welcome travelers at Le Cocotier in the scenic Mae Taeng valley.

RAINY SEASON

COOL SEASON (winter)

COOL SEASON (winter)

June to October

The rainy season in northern Thailand does not bring a heavy monsoon as in central or southern Thailand. Some years, the rain period stretch through mid-November.

Travel in the North during the rainy season is actually recommended. Contrasting bright blue sky and lush verdant nature. Most outdoor activities are not disturbed by the rain, except occasionally perhaps, the cycling tours.

On the other hand, this is the best season if you fancy White Water rafting and if so, our partner's trip on the Mae Taeng river is well recommended.

HOT SEASON

COOL SEASON (winter)

HOT SEASON

Rice paddies are harvested

From March to June

The hot season is not best time to travel, especially if the locals are burning the jungle and the fields. Levels of pollution can be fairly high, and we do not recommend strenuous activities.

Most of our guests like to take a trip to cool off at nearby waterfall or to the lake, or relax of the Ping river's bank. We don't have a swimming pool at Le Cocotier, but there is plenty of water in the area.

We don't recommend cycling tours, unless you ride early morning or late afternoon. Which is definitely one of the advantage of staying at Le Cocotier, as the trails are on your doorstep.

TRAVELING DURING THE WINTER SEASON...

Our recommendations

The winter season is always been the most busy season for western travelers and foreign tourists in north Thailand, during the 4 months.

It is also the busiest season for domestic tourism. During the  winter, local tourists and expats like to drive to the north to appreciate the cool climate and the resplendent nature.

We predict the winter season 2023 to be fairly busy. If you plan to travel in north Thailand this winter, please book in advance!
